About Senator Woodbury



Who is Dick Woodbury?

    Dick Woodbury is serving his first term in the Maine Senate, where he is the only Independent. He serves on the Taxation and Judiciary Committees. He served previously in the Maine House of Representatives from 2002 to 2008.

    In addition to his Senate responsibilities, Dick works as an economist, coordinating a national research and education program on population aging. His research deals with pension plans, Social Security, retirement saving, tax policy, and the aging of the population.

    Dick and Debbie live in Yarmouth. They have three sons, Sam (19), Ben (18) and Matthew (15). Debbie is a 6th grade teacher in South Portland. Dick is a graduate of Williams College and has a Ph.D. in economics from Harvard University.

The only independent in the Senate, Senator Woodbury is dedicated to finding sensible solutions and compromises and avoiding the excesses of partisan politics.
